Spring is just around the corner. I just saw a few robins for the first time last week and within the next week or so our weather is going to be in the 50’s. It’s still to early to plant a garden in our area but it’s a good time to start planning for one.
I love our garden. We plant lots of tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, jalapeno peppers, banana peppers, green onions, zucchini and green beans. We normally purchase small plants. The only seeds we use are for the green beans. We tried once to start out with seeds but it just didn’t work for us so we purchased the smaller plants and plant those.
I never did any gardening until I met my husband. When we bought our house he put in a very large garden bed. He is the one that tends to the garden but if I had to take it over myself, I wouldn’t have a problem doing so. It really isn’t as hard as you think. I would never have thought it was as easy as it is.
If you’ve never planted your own garden but are considering it, now is a good time to start planning one. If you’re not sure about having a large garden or don’t have the space, maybe start out small with a few tomato plants. You can plant just a few and get a good quantity of tomatoes off of them.
Do your research. It’s not as hard as you think but there are many factors involved. For example, you want a nice area that gets at least 8 hours of sun a day. There is so much information on the internet these days you shouldn’t have any trouble finding some good tips and tricks to starting your own garden. Even on Youtube I found this video about planting a tomato plant.
It’s so nice to not have the expense of purchasing vegetables at the grocery store during the summer time. There is nothing like having your own fresh vegetables right in your own back yard.
